FranklinWH Home Batteries
FranklinWH makes whole-home battery systems built around the aPower battery and the aGate smart controller. Each aPower stores 15 kWh, and one aGate can manage up to 15 batteries for 225 kWh of storage. Icon Power installs FranklinWH systems across Arizona, Nevada, and Texas, handling everything from design and permitting through activation and service.
Both store 15 kWh and carry a 15-year warranty. The aPower S has a built-in solar inverter, so it's designed for new solar and battery systems. The aPower 2 connects to your home's AC wiring, which makes it a common choice for adding a battery to solar you already have.

The aGate is the smart controller at the center of every FranklinWH system. It switches your home to battery power when the grid goes down and manages how your solar, batteries, and the grid work together.
It's the large white box usually mounted in your garage or near your electrical panel. One aGate can manage up to 15 aPower batteries, so you can start with one and add more later.
Pricing
A FranklinWH system with one aPower and an aGate, installed by Icon Power, typically costs $17,000 to $22,000, depending on your electrical panel, where it's installed on your home, your utility, the financing you choose, and whether it's paired with new or existing solar. The price can be even lower with our prepaid lease option.
You can pay with cash or financing. The 30% federal residential tax credit ended December 31, 2025, so batteries purchased in 2026 do not qualify for it.
Starting around $140 a month through our third-party ownership program. The program owner claims a federal commercial tax credit and passes the value to you through a lower monthly or prepaid price.

One aPower covers essential backup for most homes. Whole-home backup with central air conditioning usually takes two, and EV charging or pool equipment can call for a third. We size every system from 12 months of your actual energy use, your panel, and your HVAC.
Installed for the Southwest
The aPower is rated to operate from -4°F to 122°F and keeps running up to 131°F at reduced output. Its battery and inverter carry an IP67 rating, which means they're sealed against dust and water.
Even so, every battery performs best out of direct summer heat. Our installers plan each installation with garage or shaded-wall placement, room for airflow, and orientation away from afternoon sun.
Yes, in most cases. The aPower 2 connects through your home's AC wiring, so it works with most existing solar systems. We'll review your current inverter and electrical panel before recommending a setup.
We add batteries to systems we didn't install, and we can take over monitoring and service for the whole system.
Why Icon Power
One accountable Icon Power team handles design, permitting, installation, utility approval, and activation in the FranklinWH app, and we stay your service contact for the life of the system.

We install both FranklinWH and Tesla Powerwall, so we'll recommend the battery that fits your home and your goals, not the only one we carry.
It depends on what's running. One aPower stores 15 kWh, which can typically run essential loads like a refrigerator, lights, and Wi-Fi for about a day. Central air conditioning drains it much faster. Paired with solar, the battery recharges during the day, extending backup through multi-day outages.
Both store 15 kWh, use lithium iron phosphate cells, and carry a 15-year warranty. The aPower S has a built-in solar inverter with four solar inputs and up to 20 kW of DC solar input, so it's designed for new solar and battery systems. The aPower 2 is AC-coupled, which makes it a common choice for adding a battery to existing solar.
Each FranklinWH aPower stores 15 kWh, compared with 13.5 kWh for a Powerwall 3. FranklinWH carries a 15-year warranty, compared with 10 years for the Powerwall 3, and one aGate can manage up to 15 batteries. Both are rated to start large motors like AC compressors at 185 LRA. See our Tesla Powerwall 3 page for a full breakdown.
Yes. One aGate can manage up to 15 aPower batteries, for up to 225 kWh of storage.
FranklinWH warrants the aPower for 15 years or 60 MWh of energy throughput. Icon Power's workmanship warranty covers the installation for 25 years.
Not for batteries you purchase. The 30% federal residential credit ended December 31, 2025. On a third-party ownership monthly program, the program owner can claim a federal commercial credit and pass the value through in your payment. Some utilities also offer battery incentives, and availability varies. Tax treatment varies; consult a tax professional.
Go in this order: solar breaker, all disconnects, the combiner panel (only if you have more than one battery), the aGate, your solar inverter, then the power button on each battery. Our step-by-step setup guide walks through each one.
