FranklinWH aPower2: New System Setup Guide

How to Turn On Your FranklinWH aPower 2 System #

Your solar and battery system is ready. Let’s get everything powered on.

This guide walks you through each step to safely turn on your FranklinWH aPower 2 system and start monitoring your energy.

If you prefer the original guide, you can view it here:

What You’ll Do #

You’ll go through a simple startup sequence:

  1. Turn on your solar breaker

  2. Turn on all disconnects

  3. Power on your system controller (aGate)

  4. Turn on your inverter

  5. Turn on your battery

  6. Set up monitoring

Follow the steps in order. Skipping around can prevent your system from starting correctly.

Step 1: Turn On Your Solar Breaker #

Open your main electrical panel and locate the breaker labeled:

  • PV

  • Photovoltaic

  • Solar

Flip this breaker to the On position.

This allows power to flow to your solar and battery system.

Step 2: Turn On All Disconnects #

Locate the disconnect boxes near your main panel or battery system.

  • These are gray boxes with a handle on the front

  • Most homes have 1 to 3 disconnects

Flip each handle up to the On position.

Step 3: Turn On Combiner Panel (If You Have Multiple Batteries) #

Only complete this step if you have more than one battery.

  • Locate the small panel near your batteries (combiner panel)

  • Open it and turn all breakers ON

If you only have one battery, skip this step.

Step 4: Power On the aGate (System Controller) #

The aGate is the brain of your system.

  • Locate the large white box (usually in your garage or near your panel)

  • Open the door by pulling firmly from the right side

  • Turn the red power switch ON

  • Make sure all breakers inside are also ON

  • Step 5: Turn On Your Solar Inverter #

  • This step depends on your inverter type:

    SolarEdge Inverter

    • Turn the center knob clockwise from Off → On

    Enphase System

    • Open the combiner box

    • Turn all breakers On

Step 6: Turn On Your Battery #

  • On each battery:

    • Locate the circular power button on the side

    • Press it to turn the battery On

If you have multiple batteries, repeat for each one.

Step 7: Set Up the FranklinWH App #

  • Download the FranklinWH app to monitor your system.

    To get started:

    • Download the app from the App Store or Google Play

    • Look for your registration email from Icon Power

    • Create your account using the same email on file

    Once connected, you can:

    • Monitor energy production and usage

    • Track battery performance

    • View system status in real time

    What to Expect #

    After startup:

    • Your system may take a few minutes to fully initialize

    • Battery indicators (LED strip) will show system status

    • Production will depend on sunlight and time of day

    Troubleshooting #

No power or system not working

    • Double-check all breakers and disconnects are ON

    • Make sure the aGate is powered on

Battery shows an error (fast blinking LED)

    • Turn the battery off

    • Wait 1–2 minutes

    • Turn it back on

    App not connecting

    • Confirm WiFi is working

    • Make sure the aGate is powered on

If issues continue, reach out to support.
