How to Power On Your Enphase Solar System

This guide walks you through the simple process of powering on your Enphase solar energy system. Follow the steps below to ensure your system starts up properly.

Step 1: Locate the Solar Breaker in the Main Panel #

  • Go to your main electrical panel (also known as the breaker panel).
  • Look for the breaker labeled for solar — often marked with a black label tag.
  • Note: Some systems may not have this breaker, depending on the configuration.

Step 2: Turn On the Disconnect Switch #

  • Find the external disconnect switch near the main panel.
  • Flip the switch to the ON position.
  • Check for a screen or light to turn on, indicating that power is flowing.

Step 3: Power On the Enphase Combiner or IQ Controller #

  • Locate your Enphase combiner box (sometimes called Enphase blocks or IQ Controller).
  • Open the panel and ensure that all breakers inside are in the ON position.
  • Look for status lights on the device — they will begin to illuminate as the system powers up.

Step 4: Interpret the Status Lights #

  • Light 1 (Wi-Fi or Cloud Icon): Confirms your system is connected to the internet.
  • Light 2 (Thunderbolt Icon): Indicates your system is actively producing power.
  • Light 3: Usually stays off — used by installers for service checks.
  • Light 4: Confirms your microinverters are running with the correct grid code.

Allow up to 5 minutes for all lights to turn on and for power production to begin.
